LZS series float flowmeter

The float flowmeter of Sino Inst LZS series (also called rotor flowmeter) is a plastic pipe flow measurement device, which uses a transparent conical tube and float structure, and visually shows the fluid flow rate through the float’s height rising in the conical tube. The product has calibre parameters from DN25 to DN125, a large flow range, adjustable selection, simple structure, easy reading and no power supply. It is widely used in on-site indication and simple process control of small and medium flow liquid in industries of water treatment, environmental protection, chemical engineering and food.

Installation and use precautions

  • Installation conditions: Must be mounted in a vertical position with fluid flow upward. Measurement accuracy may be affected by tilting.
  • Straight pipe portion: It is required to preserve a specified length of straight pipe section before and after to avoid the vortex compromising the stability of the float.
  • Medium requirements Suitable for liquids containing particles and contaminants that are susceptible to wear on the cone tube or to getting stuck in the float, for cleaning. We recommend that you install a filter before installation.
  • Temperature and pressure: Operate within rated temperature and pressure; excessive temperature and pressure may cause deformation and damage to the pipe body.
  • Reading method: read the scale value corresponding to the largest cross section of the float, and the line of sight is level with the scale.
  • Maintenance: frequent inspection cone tube scaling inner wall, float flexibility. If required, take apart and clean.

Technical Support

The float flowmeter is simple in structure, low in price, no need power supply, but the accuracy is relatively low (± 4%~ 5%), and the direct reading can only be on-site, suitable for simple flow indication; The electromagnetic flowmeter has high accuracy (0.5 level), can transmit output remotely, and has strong functions, but the price is expensive, need power supply, and can only measure conductive liquids. Remote transmission, high precision and electromagnetic measurement are required, and float selection needs only simple indication in situ.

Float flowmeter relies on the balance between float gravity and fluid impulse to measure flow rate. Tilting will change the gravity component of the float, resulting in increased measurement error. Generally, it is required that the vertical deviation should not exceed 5 °, otherwise it will significantly affect the accuracy.

Yes, the plastic pipe body itself has resistance to general acid and alkali corrosion, suited for weak acid alkali salt solutions, sewage, water treatment and other scenarios. However the compatibility of strong oxidising acids and organic solvents needs to be established and PTFE walled or totally PTFE versions should be chosen where appropriate.
