Fixed Gas Detector with Remote Sensor is a gas detection device with a display meter and a detection sensor probe separated. Fixed Gas Detector with Remote Sensor is actually the same as the online gas detector (fixed gas detector). It’s just that the connection method of the detector is slightly different. Technical Support

A combustible gas detector is designed to alarm before a gas reaches its explosive limit (%LEL), preventing fires and explosions. A carbon monoxide detector is designed to sense low levels (measured in parts per million, or ppm) of CO, a toxic gas that is poisonous to humans and is a product of incomplete combustion. While some multi-gas detectors can sense both, their primary purposes are distinct: one is for explosion safety, the other for health safety.

‘% LEL’ stands for ‘percent of the Lower Explosive Limit.’ It is the primary unit of measurement for a combustible gas detector. The LEL is the minimum concentration of a gas in air that can ignite. A reading of 100% LEL means the gas concentration is at the explosive threshold. Your detector provides a reading as a percentage of that value, giving you an early warning. For example, a reading of “20% LEL” indicates the atmosphere contains 20% of the gas concentration needed to become explosive.

Not necessarily with the same accuracy. While a catalytic bead sensor can respond to a broad range of combustible gases, its response will vary for each gas. Most detectors are calibrated to a specific gas (commonly methane or pentane). When detecting a different gas, a “correction factor” must be applied to the reading to get an accurate concentration. Infrared (IR) sensors are more specific and are typically set up for a single gas or a family of gases like hydrocarbons.

Installing a gas detector requires comprehensive considerations. Here, we’ll briefly explain a fixed gas detector as an example.

The most common method for installing a wall-mounted gas detector is direct wall mounting. Using a fixed mounting height, a drill is typically used to drill holes in the wall corresponding to the instrument’s mounting locations. The mounting height of the gas detector is closely related to the specific gravity of the gas; for details, refer to the relevant regulations for installation heights.

Secondly, the product wiring and electrical connections typically utilize explosion-proof M20*1.5 electrical wiring ports. Galvanized conduit must be used for intermediate wiring, and flame-retardant shielded cable is preferred. In addition to wall-mounting, other installation methods include pole mounting, pipe mounting, and bracket mounting. These installation methods are determined by the site’s working conditions and the availability of support structures.

Selection Guide

  • Detection range: Select the appropriate detection range according to actual use requirements. Common ranges include 0-30% VOL, 0-50% VOL, 0-100% VOL, etc.
  • Accuracy requirements: For occasions with high accuracy requirements, high-precision detectors should be selected. Products with an accuracy of ±3% can generally meet most application requirements.
  • Protection level: Depending on the use environment, select a detector with a corresponding protection level. For example, products with a protection level of IP66 or higher can prevent water splashes and dust from entering the instrument.
  • Function requirements: Select a detector with corresponding functions according to actual use requirements. Such as whether data recording, wireless transmission, alarm functions, etc. are required. If remote monitoring and data management are required, products with wireless transmission functions such as GPRS/4G/WIFI can be selected.
