Why choose this digital sensor?
- Accurate and stable measurement, optical detection+temperature compensation, small data drift, fast response, and long-term stable operation.
- Self cleaning and anti fouling, equipped with a cleaning brush, reduces the adhesion of algae and impurities, and lowers maintenance frequency.
- Easy installation, immersion installation, compact size, strong adaptability to water flow environment.
- Digital signal output, standard Modbus/RTU, easy to connect to PLC, data collector, and environmental monitoring platform.
Working Principle
The TPS-206 online turbidity/transparency sensor uses the visible light absorption method. Several suspended objects can absorb or block visible light, which makes water less clear. The sensor measures how much light is absorbed at a certain wavelength by suspended particles in water, and then it uses curve fitting and algorithm conversion to figure out and output the transparency value. It may also measure the water’s temperature at the same time to give accurate and dependable readings.
Featured Applications
- Municipal sewage treatment: online monitoring of transparency of inlet and outlet water, biochemical tank, and sedimentation tank
- Surface water monitoring: transparency monitoring of rivers, lakes, reservoirs, and landscape water bodies
- Industrial water treatment: transparency testing for circulating cooling water, process drainage, and wastewater treatment
- Aquaculture: Real time monitoring of transparency of ponds and aquaculture water bodies
- Environmental pollution sources online: continuous monitoring of effluent from sewage outlets and treatment facilities

Instructions for installation
- Using immersion horizontal installation to keep direct sunlight from hitting the measuring window
- The sensor should be submerged no deeper than 2 meters and no higher than 30 cm above the lowest water level.
- Set up in a place where water flows without bubbles or major problems
- If the water flow is rough, the sensor needs to be fixed so it doesn’t get damaged by impact.
- To keep the cables from extending too much, the connection point should be treated so that it is waterproof.
- Don’t touch the optical measurement window with your hands.
Daily care and maintenance
- To keep dirt from sticking, clean the sensor optical window often with clean water or a soft cloth.
- Check the cleaning brush to make sure it works properly and that the automatic cleaning function is working.
- To keep the wire from breaking, keep the cable free.
- Regular calibration based on the quality of the water, using two-point calibration (deionized water and a standard solution)
- After 18 months of continuous usage, it is best to return to the factory to have the dynamic seal replaced and the cleaning mechanism checked.
- First, set the temperature, and then set the transparency when you calibrate.
