Maintenance

  • Before you begin the process of taking measurements, you should clean the electrode by rinsing it with distilled water and then pat it dry using a piece of filter paper.
  • In order to maintain a full protective cap, it is necessary to keep it filled with a 3.3mol/L solution of potassium chloride when it is not being used.
  • Avoid leaving yourself in distilled water, protein solutions, or acidic chloride solutions for an extended period of time.
  • Use a small amount of an acidic solution of hydrochloric to cleanse If you notice that the glass membrane has become foggy or has deposits on it, clean it with water.
  • In order to ensure optimal functioning, the pH meter should be cleaned and calibrated on a weekly basis. When it comes to the consistent application of lime slurry, this is quite crucial.

  1. After opening the packaging, check whether there is mechanical damage to the sensitive bulb and electrode body of the electrode.
  2. Remove the sensor protective cover and check if there are any bubbles in the sensitive bulb of the electrode. If so, gently shake the sensor in a vertical plane to remove the bubbles.
  3. Select the corresponding sensor sleeve or cable head for installation according to different electrodes.
  4. The connection between the sensor wire and the electrode is not waterproof, please make sure to do a good job of waterproofing.

Common causes include: ① Air bubbles in the sensing bulb (shake vertically to remove); ② Contaminated PTFE junction (clean with soft brush and distilled water, especially for lime slurry residue); ③ Expired calibration (recalibrate with standard buffer solution, e.g., pH 4.01/6.86/9.18).

For industrial online use, calibrate every 2-4 weeks; for clean water (e.g., pure water systems), monthly calibration is sufficient. Calibrate immediately if the electrode is exposed to extreme pH media or after heavy cleaning.

Yes. Its particular planar sensing membrane can measure media with a pH of up to 14 without breaking down. But being in pH 13+ media for a long time may lower the service life by a few months (from 6 months to 4–5 months). To make sure the data is correct, we suggest calibrating more often, once every two weeks.

No. The GRT1030W can only handle temperatures up to 60 degrees Celsius. If you put it in media that is hotter than 60°C, the solid gel electrolyte and sensing membrane will be damaged, and the device will never work again. For situations with high temperatures (≤80°C), we suggest the GRT1020T model with a PVDF housing.

This is usually caused by PTFE junction blockage or membrane contamination. Clean the junction with a soft nylon brush dipped in 5% hydrochloric acid for 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with distilled water. For the sensing membrane, wipe gently with lens cleaning paper soaked in pH 4.01 buffer solution, then recalibrate—this will restore fast response performance.
